For some odd reason, It felt like it was my birthday being that the show was full of surprises. I don’t want to give it all away just yet, but this could have been one of the best shows here in Las Vegas…on my mama! We had Seattle’s Blue Scholars in attendance as well as Von Pea and Donwill of Tanya Morgan…you missed out Ilyas, maybe next time. Indeed it was my first time hearing Blue Scholars and they definitely impressed everyone with their undeniable mic skills. Von Pea and Donwill put it down of course; performing a number of songs including “Walk This Way”. It was good to see those guys again. Hiero’s Musab aka Minnesota Slicks was in the building performing a few joints off of his album “Slick’s Box”; ending his set with “Bang” which is one of my favorite tracks.
While watching the show, A-plus of Souls of Mischief and I were catching up on a few things; also thanking him for making a stop here in Vegas. That is one of the coolest dudes I’ve ever met and that’s real talk. I was also able to get with Knobody, one of the newest members of Hieroglyphics whom I met at Paid Dues Festival 08. This was the first time I heard his music as well and it definitely caught the crowd’s ear; you can’t go wrong with the Third Eye Ro! With friends and family in attendence it felt like a celebration; all I needed was a ” I’m Rick James b**ch!” from Dave Chappelle.
Besides Del and Phesto, everyone was there; rocking the crowd with a number of bangers from 93′ til Infinity to “Heatish” from the Full Circle album, and many others. I told A-Plus, ” Las Vegas is in deep gratitude for this event because shows like this doesn’t happen often but last night showed proof that it soon will. I want to give a special thanks to Phoenix Orion and Iceberg Slick. Also, I got to give a shout out to Dj Illicit for respecting the grind…alright enough from me take a look at this:
