Mixtape Chronicles Pt. 10: Bugsy

Bugsy: What’s Up world? The name is Bugsy, get familiar with the name! (laughs) I’m from a big little city called Las Vegas.

TN: He says get familiar with the name! I heard that! So, Bugsy, how did you get into this we call Hip Hop?

Bugsy: Well, I’ve been into and around music my whole life. In my freshman year of high school was when I started playing around with it. It was me and a friend of mine. Not until my senior year did I realized it was what I wanted to do.

TN: So, you started in high school. So, how many years does that make?

Bugsy: I’ve been doing it seriously about 3 years now.

TN: You’re still new to all of this. Since you’re still a kid and rookie at this, who are your influences?

Bufsy: I’m influenced by those around me. Like the people that I see struggling on a daily a basis. That’s who influences me to do what I do.

TN: Ok. I feel you on that. Describe your style for me.

Bugsy: Hmmm… Describe my style? Well, my music is for those of all kinds. Young, old, rich and poor. I speak about things I’ve seen and things I’ve done. I speak to those that think there’s no hope. I speak to those that want “theme music” for when they’re feeling good. I don’t just have a set style of music I do.

TN: What do you think makes you different from other cats out there trying to make it?

Bugsy: The difference between me and other dudes out here is I’m not afraid to be myself.

TN: That’s what’s up. There is too much of rappers trying to be something they’re not. I call them “fantasy rappers”. (laughs) We need more real cats in the game and less fake ass rappers. That’s what’s up. So, what are you working on now? What you got dropping?

TN: Gotta love an artist on the grind! You know in this game no one can afford to sleep. So, with the grind forever going, where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?

Bugsy: In the next 5- 10 yrs I’m going to be living good! I’m going to be on top of the Billboard Charts and getting ready to drop another album. As long as I keep that mind state and stay focused I can make these things possible.
