The world of Hip Hop is forever growing and changing. Everyday someone picks up a mic with dreams or stardom. To go from dreams of being on stage with people hanging onto your every word to making it a reality is a battle all it’s own. To be a success in this game you can’t just win the battle, you have to conquer the competition and win the war. With that said, allow me to introduce you to Vegas’ hottest soldier in Sedrew Price. He’s here to win the war folks!
TN: For those that don’t know you, introduce yourself:
Sedrew Price: It’s your boy Sedrew Price straight out of Sin City. I’m just another artist that’s trying to get in, but I got a few more things I can offer the public. When you get a chance, holla at your boy and take a listen. I know there are a lot of clowns out here, but I gets it in for real.
TN: What makes you different from all the other artists from Vegas?
Sedrew Price: A couple of things make me different. First of all leadership. I’m not scare to be who I really am. I’m not going to follow the next man’s blueprint just so I can get on. I really want people to accept me for me so I’m going to continue to put out music that reflects me and my situations. Another thing is the passion, the music is in me. I know a lot of rappers that go for the money. I know that at the end of the day it’s all about the money, but it’s the passion that drives me. I have that passion. Music is my life. I don’t know what I’d do if I didn’t have it. I love it. That’s what makes you a success.
TN: I think that when rappers are in the game for the money they end up one hit wonders. Those that are here for the passion seem to last longer. What do you think?:
Sedrew Price: Yeah, it’s quality over quantity. I want to be here for the long run. I’m trying to be a legend.
TN: You want to be LL Cool J, Rakim, Biggie, Tupac, minus being shot. (laugh)
Sedrew Price: Yeah, I want to be like Rakim, 2Pac, Biggie, Jay -Z. (laughs) I don’t want to die. I love life. I could even be like Russell Simmons. (laughs) I could get my Russell on. Yeah, that would be a good look.
TN: I’m an old school chick. Hip hop has changed so much that it has left me jaded. I’m a lyric fiend. I have to admit that I was reluctant to listen to you, but I must admit that you’re cool. Your lyrics are on point. You have some real content.
Sedrew Price: Thank you, thank you.
TN: What’s more important to you, the lyrics or beats?
Sedrew Price: Definitely the lyrics. I mean the beat playsals an important part. Don’t get me wrong, I can really appreciate the producers ability to get those emotions of the artist. When it comes to the lyrical content, the words are like a weapon. The lyrics are what moves the people. Like when Obama speaks, everyone stops and listens. I want to have that type of power with my music.
TN: What producers have you worked with?
Sedrew Price: My main man Hitman. Shout out to him. I’ve worked with Bedrock out in Cali, Remix, Let Em Burn and couple other names. I never shoot a beat to the left. If it’s a hot beat, let get to work and get it poppin!
TN: Describe your style.
Sedrew Price: Ooooh! (laugh) That’s hard! I don’t want to compare myself to anyone. I’m trying to develop my own style, my own name. I will say my influences are Jay-Z and Tupac. I listen to a bunch of different people. Like Little Brother, Jeezy, TI, Joe Budden. It just depends. I like them all. So, when it comes to my style it’s probably a blend of all of it. It’s what I like and listen to, it reflects me.
TN: How do you as an artist pick a beat?
Sedrew Price: It all depends on how it makes me feel. Like, when it comes on, I be like “Oooh!” (bobbin head) I’m not afraid to show a producer that I love their work.
TN: What’s in the future for Sedrew?
Sedrew Price: I’m trying to get a deal. I know it’s hard to get a real solid deal. Like the ones they gave back in the day when record labels had a roster of real, quality artists. I’m not a one hit wonder. No disrespect to “ringtone rappers”, but I’m here for the long run.
TN: Like you said before, some are here for the money. They’re going to strike while the iron is hot.
Sedrew Price: I know, but that’s not me. I’m going to be here for the long haul. I’m working on my press kit and my next mixtape will have all original material. It’ll drop at the end of August, early September.
TN: Is there anyone in the game that you don’t think belongs there?
Sedrew Price: I used to watch TV and get mad because I knew they weren’t better than me. I had to rearrange my thinking. (laugh) I feel that everyone has a part in this hip hop game. I won’t bump Souljah Boy in the whip but I’ll dance to him in the club. I won’t say that no one belongs, but I do believe that everyone has a part to play. To everyone in the game , see you soon! (laugh)
TN: Any final words?
Sedrew Price: I appreciate the interview, all the fans and listeners out there . If you can invest your time and your ears, I got you. You won’t be disappointed. Sin City, what’s happenin!!
TN: Give me something from the dome and we’ll call it a wrap.
Sedrew Price:
They wanna know what a boss is like
Just call on Price.
I count bread, crown on head, King Arthur type
My arm froze, stone cold, Steve Austin type
My sex, vicious, exquisite, got awesome pipe
